Calvary Church (Brighton)
Calvary Church is an independent evangelical church in Brighton, part of the English city of Brighton and Hove. It is located on Viaduct Road in the Round Hill area of the city, next door to the fire station on Preston Circus. It is affiliated with the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches, the Sussex Gospel Partnership, and more recently, the Evangelical Alliance. The yellow-brick Gothic Revival building, designed by James Barnes, was erected in 1876 for a congregation of Primitive Methodists at the initiative of Rev. William Dinnick, but this church moved to new premises in 1894 and the Railway Mission took over. The Mission sold its buildings in the 1980s, and like many others in Britain the Brighton church became independent. It is on Brighton and Hove City Council's local list of heritage assets.
