⛰️ Gegensteine

The Gegensteine are two striking, free-standing rock pinnacles rising dramatically from the gentle, undulating landscape of the northern Harz foreland, approximately two kilometres north of the historic town of Ballenstedt in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. These majestic sandstone crags — the Großer Gegenstein and the Kleiner Gegenstein — stand as silent sentinels at the easternmost extremity of the legendary Teufelsmauer, a discontinuous 20-kilometre chain of rugged sandstone outcrops stretching northwest to Blankenburg.
