Holgate Windmill
Holgate Windmill is a brick tower mill built in 1770 on Windmill Rise in Holgate, a suburb of York, England. Constructed for the miller George Waud, it worked with roller‑reefing and later double‑patent sails, and was equipped during the 19th century with several pairs of French Burr millstones and dressing machines. The mill was enlarged in the mid‑19th century with a new granary, an additional storey and a steam engine, and continued in use after 1930 with an electric motor until milling ceased in 1933.
