🚩 Milestones of the World

These are notable milestones — the carved stones and cast-iron posts set beside a road to record distance to a town, from the Roman miliaria of the Appian Way and the milestones of imperial China to the turnpike stones of Georgian Britain, each a small monument to the surveyor and the road-maker. Each profile shows where the milestone stands, which country it is in, and a plain-English introduction from Wikipedia.
