Turn a link, a line of text or a Wi-Fi network into a QR code that is generated by your own browser — the content never leaves the page, and the PNG you download is drawn locally on a canvas. Useful for sharing a network without spelling out a password, printing a link on paper, or getting text from a computer to a phone without sending it anywhere.

Type something to encode.

How QR codes fail, and how to avoid it

Error correction is printed redundancy, not a bigger code. A quarter of the data is repeated at level M, so a scuffed sticker still scans; level H survives a logo in the middle but packs the same text into more, smaller modules — which is why dense content at H can fail on cheap scanners. Keep codes printed at least 2 cm wide per 10 characters of payload, and respect the quiet zone (the blank margin around the code — this page keeps four modules of it, as the standard requires). Low contrast, glossy laminate and screen glare break more codes than distance does.

A QR code is not a secure channel. Anyone who photographs it reads exactly what you encoded — a Wi-Fi password in a QR code on a café wall is public. It also gives no guarantee of where it points: the destination of a printed code can be changed at the server side later, which is why banks now warn before acting on scanned links. Scan with an app that shows the URL first, not one that opens it blindly. Everything in this tool is computed on your device; the library is the MIT-licensed qrcode-generator, vendored on our own server.
