🥘 Recipe Scaler

any factor · fractions rendered as ½ ⅓ ¾ · baking caveat printed

Recipe maths is easy; kitchen-representable maths is not. 0.75 teaspoons is correct and unusable — nobody turns a measuring spoon to 0.75. This page parses your ingredient lines, applies the factor, and renders the answer as the fractions your spoon set actually has (½, ⅓, ⅔, ¼, ¾, ⅛…), falling back to decimals for quantities above 10 where the teaspoon argument stops mattering.

Why the "pinch" line survives untouched

Lines without a leading number — salt to taste, one onion, juice of a lime — are not arithmetic failures, they are the recipe talking like a person. The scaler passes them through visibly instead of inventing quantities, because a page that confidently tells you to scale "a pinch" to "0.1875 pinches" is the page that ruins dinner. The same reason decimals stay under 10: nobody measures 12.75 cups of anything; they measure twelve and a three-quarter and stop fussing.
