🖌️ Paint Coverage Calculator

wall area · openings deducted · 10% waste · two-coat warning

Paint tins quote coverage (a common figure is ~10 m² per litre on smooth walls — yours is printed on yours) and rooms quote traps: doors, windows and the second coat over a dark or raw surface. This page does the subtraction chain honestly: gross wall area → minus openings → litres at your spread rate → plus 10% for roller leftovers and touch-ups → plus double when the colour change demands two coats.

Read the tin, not the slogan

Coverage figures are measured on smooth, primed walls under lab light — real rooms add texture, patch-repair and the roller that never gets into the corner. That is why this page separates the exact litres the maths asks for from the number you actually buy: the waste buffer and the two-coat row exist because the expensive mistake is never running out mid-wall, it is discovering the colour took three coats. Painters' rule the spreadsheets omit: one coat is a rumour, two is a product.
