ITU table · A–Z 0–9 punctuation · word gaps · audio playback

The real ITU table, not the movie version: letters, digits and common punctuation, with words separated by / and symbols by spaces. Playback uses a single WebAudio oscillator — a dit is one unit, a dah three, intra-symbol gaps one unit, inter-symbol three, inter-word seven — so SOS really does come out ··· −−− ··· at 12 words per minute by default.

The timing is the code

Morse is a rhythm language: a dit is one unit, a dah three, the space inside a letter one, between letters three, between words seven. Get the ratios right and "ears" can copy any speed — which is why the unit length here is derived from words-per-minute the way radio operators do it: PARIS, a five-letter test word worth exactly 50 units, times the wpm. 1200 ÷ 12 wpm = 100 ms per unit. The oscillator is the browser's own; nothing is recorded, nothing is downloaded.
