The number words that go on a cheque, a contract, or a headline. Input is handled as a string of digits and split in groups of three, so it stays exact far past the point where JavaScript numbers start rounding (2⁵³ ≈ 9.007×10¹⁵). The wording follows the US/international short scale — one million, one billion = 10⁹ — and says so, because long-scale Europe means 10¹² when it says billion.

Why 9007199254740993 is where normal calculators die

JavaScript stores numbers as IEEE-754 doubles: above 2⁵³ the spacing between representable values exceeds 1, and 9007199254740993 silently becomes …92. Pages that take your figure "as a number" therefore spell the last digits wrong on large sums. This one keeps your input as a digit string and converts group by group, so a twenty-four-digit number gets exactly the words it asked for. The hyphen rule follows standard English style (twenty-six, one hundred and one); the Oxford "and" after hundreds is the British variant, selectable above.
