🛒 Unit Price Comparison

per g · ml · piece · m² — the shelf-label question, answered

Supermarket shelf labels answer one question — cost per standard amount — and this page does the same for the two products in your hands. Enter both sizes in the same unit (the kg and litre options scale by 1000 for you). One thing maths cannot see: a family-size pack you throw away half of is not a bargain, so the verdict is about rates, not about your fridge.

Why the bigger pack is not always the better buy

Unit-price gaps shrink near round sizes, and the maths stays honest either way: 4.99/500 g against 8.50/1 kg is a real 14.8% saving per gram, but the same algorithm run on two packs within a cent of each other just says “same rate”. Waste is a unit price too — at those rates, a 25%-cheaper kilo you end up composting costs far more than the pack you finish.
