Subtractions never go below zero and divisions always come out exact, because a worksheet that produces negative answers at level 1 is not a worksheet but a trap.
Practice works when the answers are checkable
Every question on a sheet has exactly one right answer and the generator knows it the moment it writes the question — the pair is stored, not recomputed — which is why the key can never disagree with the sheet. Mixed sheets round-robin the four operations rather than drawing them at random, so a twenty-question sheet is five of each and no child spends the whole evening on the one thing they already own.
