Cloze exercises work because a blank forces retrieval — you cannot skim past it the way you skim past a highlighted fact. Teachers hand out the water-cycle paragraph; you can now make one from your paragraph: paste the notes, choose how often a word is lifted out, print or copy the sheet. The word bank is shuffled, so the blanks are honest, and the answer key stays hidden until you want it.
Why your own text beats a worksheet
A gap-fill drawn from last week's notes tests exactly the words your class is actually using — including the ones a printed worksheet would never think to blank. Two habits make it stick: do the sheet once with the bank visible, then again the next day from memory with the bank hidden; and keep a pen beside the screen, because writing the recovered word is the part that strengthens it.
